If you own a laptop then there’s no doubt you’ve come across the network displayed as “Free Public Wi-Fi” before. At first glance it seems harmless, considering many businesses nowadays are luring customers in with public internet. But did you ever stop and think for a second that it was a virus-like connection, spread through out the internet by none other than Microsoft and a vulnerability found in Windows XP? Apple is shipping 4.1 Million iPads every quarter, and there’s no sign of slowing down. Steve Jobs is obviously very happy about the success of the iPad, and he is as “humble” as he can be. The thing is, he isn’t too fond of the competition.

“Given that tablet users will have a smartphone in their pocket, there’s no point in giving up screen size. Seven inch tablets are tweeners — too big to be a phone, and too small to compete with the iPad.”Steve Jobs, Apples earnings call

He does have a point — competitors are spreading the selection way to thick, and consumers are probably going to decide on a tablet or a smartphone — instead of getting both.

Google announced yesterday the official release of the Google Web Toolkit (GWT), a Java-based platform for the development of AJAX web applications that work in all mainstream web browsers. Designed to simplify AJAX development, GWT generates consistent, browser-neutral Javascript from simple Java source code.

According to Google, the modularity of Java facilitates a higher level of code reusability. Google also claims that using Java for AJAX development is beneficial because powerful Java IDEs like Eclipse significantly increase developer productivity. GWT provides a number of unique features that contribute to more effective AJAX development. With GWT, developers assemble applications by laying out various AJAX widgets in panels and associating operations with application events.
